Our updated Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) subsystem design has been manufactured and is undergoing testing. Providing telecommand access to MARMOTSat in orbit via our ground station, this updated version of the ORCASat TT&C design features a revamped radio frequency front end. This front end replaces the monolithic front end that was used for ORCASat with discrete paths for RX and TX, resulting in increased transmit power, decreased noise figure and a greater degree of supply chain security, due to the elimination of the Qorvo RFFM6406 monolith, which is now discontinued.

Fully assembled TTC board with EGSE

Additional changes to this subsystem include the addition of an RF test port, accessible in the fully assembled spacecraft, as well as an updated EGSE scheme, and the use of MCX connectors as an RF interface. The RF test port allows hardware in the loop (HIL) testing to include the fully assembled spacecraft, while the updated EGSE scheme and the MCX connectors are necessary for the subsystem to work as part of the MARMOTSat bus. The subsystem is currently undergoing testing to qualify the updated design. After qualification testing is complete,  a new board revision will be produced, intended to serve as the flight model for MARMOTSat.
